Take a look at the behind the scenes of the journal!
Our journey to create this project started as an assignment for a Latinx/Chicanx Studies course where we had to submit an oral history essay for our final project. Through courage and inspiration, we decided to elevate it to higher fields and create the first Latinx Voices Journal on campus to represent the underrepresented. Our goal is to amplify the diverse experiences and the historical stories of Latinx People. We want to create a dedicated space to voice marginalized experiences that will create and inspire a community to know its history so they can understand the origin of their identities.
We hope to inspire many others to start conversations about their own experiences while creating an inclusive space where they can support and uplift one another. By publishing these stories in the journal, we hope to bring people together and bring awareness not only to the experiences of the Latinx people in this country but also to all underrepresented communities because we are all connected through the origins of our history. This journal not only enlightens our diverse cultures, traditions, and costumes but also depicts the people's determination in these stories. We all share one history with no exclusions.
